OSD debuts swimming, brings back dancesport and taekwondo for Intramurals 2025

Gearing up for a revamped Intramurals 2025, the Office of Sports and Development (OSD) is introducing swimming and reinstating dancesport and taekwondo after six years for the university-wide games scheduled from November 25–28 at the Pampanga State University Bacolor Campus.
In an interview with The Industrialist, Dancesport Tournament Supervisor Coach John Ivan Almario said the addition of new and returning categories underscores the university’s push for a more inclusive and diverse athletic program.
“The new OSD management included other sports such as dancesport, swimming, and taekwondo to achieve an inclusive sports competition, not just to focus on what has been offered in previous intramurals,” Almario said.
Dancesport and taekwondo, removed from the roster in 2019, will officially rejoin the annual sporting event with full participation from student-athletes across colleges.
Furthermore, preparations for the swimming event are underway as the campus pool undergoes enhancements, including the installation of improvised lane lines to guide Honorian swimmers.
Moreover, OSD OIC-Concurrent Director Dr. Eddiebal Layco has appointed Assistant Directors and Overall Coordinators to oversee each event and ensure that athletes receive the necessary support throughout the competition.
Dr. Layco also shared that their recent discussions centered on preparing a new batch of PSU delegates for the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Olympics, noting that the inclusion of swimming provides opportunities for aspiring Honorian swimmers.
“Nakita ko kasi—since ako ‘yung Officer-in-Charge ngayon sa Sports—[in] one of our meetings sa SCUAA, marami talagang medals sa swimming event,” Layco said.
The OSD has yet to finalize the necessary procurements to officially open the most anticipated event.
