Pop-up booths organized by various Local Student Councils (LSCs) and student organizations filled the L-Pavilion (Dubai) at Pampanga State University (PampangaStateU) on February 13, drawing students between classes as Valentine’s Day activities ran alongside regular academic schedules.
The half-day event, held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, featured student bands performing live and booths selling flowers, sweets, and themed merchandise.
In an interview with The Industrialist, third-year psychology representative Elle Romero said the Psychology Society (PsychSoc) organized its first Valentine’s booth to introduce the organization to the student body while raising funds.
“Gusto namin magkaroon ng—for this Valentine's Day—ito ‘yung first event or first booth, as a PsychSoc. So, ito ‘yung parang introduction namin, gagawa ng booths for Valentine's Day. Also, ‘yung mga malilikom natin dito is gagamitin din namin, for the student body din naman.”
Students from the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) also set up stalls, incorporating small-scale entrepreneurship into the campus celebration.
Second-year Computer Engineering student Kim Andrew Datu, who operates a small business under the Institution of Computer Engineers of the Philippines (ICpEP), said the setup allowed student entrepreneurs to reach peers directly within the campus.
He also noted that the continuation of regular classes influenced student participation during the event.
“Siguro po may factor na, ano naman, good and bad naman. Good kasi po nakapasok pa ‘yung mga students na mas nakikita nila ‘yung may event. And bad, hindi sila nakakapag-participate sa event. Sa vacant time lang sila nakakapag-participate,” Datu said.
